Why This Matters

Your child has been issued a Chromebook to support their learning both at school and at home. While these devices are built for student use, accidents like drops, spills, and cracked screens can still occur.

Families are financially responsible for the repair or replacement of school-issued devices if they are lost, stolen, or damaged while in a student’s care.

What the Insurance Covers

To help reduce potential out-of-pocket costs, families have the option to purchase a device insurance plan through the Legacy Store.

• Cost: $25 per year, per device
• Coverage:
  ✔ Accidental damage (e.g., cracked screen, liquid spill, broken keyboard)
  ❌ Does not cover lost or stolen devices
  ❌ Does not cover lost or damaged accessories (like the power cord)

What Happens If I Don’t Purchase Insurance?

Families who choose not to purchase the insurance plan will be responsible for full replacement costs if the device is lost, stolen, or damaged.

• Replacement Fee: $350 per device

If a replacement fee is required, payment can be made through the Legacy Store.

How to Purchase

Insurance can be purchased for the school year directly through the Legacy Store for just $25.

Once purchased, coverage applies to the current device and current academic year only.  Coverage must be renewed annually and if the device is replaced within the same academic year.

All purchases of the Optional Laptop Insurance are final. Refunds will not be issued.
